Resting

Resting

This is another little poem I wrote whilst sat in my local park watching life go by. Everything was still, not even a hint of a breeze. It just seemed that the whole world was resting for a minute to catch its breath.

Resting

No wind stirs the leaves
It is resting, paused
Gathering its sinews
So it can breathe once again

Clouds stand lifeless
Frozen in time
Icebergs suspended
In the sea of the sky

The sun hides away
Playing children’s games
Nature is its playground
The humans are it

The land lies slumbering
Tucked up under an earthen quilt
No need to wake and play
Today is a day for resting
